The Company
237,000 members and 385 employees make FDM Denmark’s largest consumer organization. FDM works in the interest of motorists, and offers its members legal and technical advice, as well as cash advantages and rebates. FDM’s business interests include operating inspection centers, driver training centers, traveler’s assistance and camping facilities, and publishing Motor and MotorClassic magazines.
Focus Area
“When we entered the auto inspection market, we more than doubled our size in a very short time. We were already aware of the need for a better overview of our employee competencies, and our sudden growth made competency management even more important,” says Iben Rindom, who is an HR Consultant at FDM.
“Our Human Resources department used too much time on administrative tasks, such as reporting on the average age of our employees or driving career development activities. We also wanted to provide our managers with better access to information about their employees and, more specifically, the competencies available in their departments and teams.”
That’s why FDM began looking for an HCM solution. They selected MindKey™ HCM primarily for its strong focus on employee development and the productive workflows that are available in the system.
Employee satisfaction builds a strong foundation
“Luckily we’ve laid a strong foundation at FDM,” explains Iben Rindom. “Because given the solid growth and the many new employees, the results of the employee satisfaction analyses we’ve conducted in recent years continue to look good. My experience is that we all have a chance, both managers and employees, to take full advantage of the opportunities available in MindKey HCM.”
Benefits
Expectations for further improving already talented managers
“We keep our managers busy, and most manage between four and ten employees. One of our primary expectations for MindKey HCM is improved leadership among our talented managers. In our opinion, our new system will help us:
- Give managers better access to employee information
- Make it easier to communicate strategy to each employee
- Help managers focus on achieving the goals that are most important for FDM
- Show each employee the relevance of the work that he or she does
- Deliver improved control over employee development
- Resolve Human Resource challenges with only a few HR employees
FDM operates 56 locations in Denmark, and our HR department must support local managers with useful knowledge and tools that help them grow as managers. At FDM, HR responsibilities are a natural part of being a manager,” concludes Iben Rindom.
